WHAT IS MPOWER?

Background
YMCA Ireland engages with children and young people of all ages primarily those who are disadvantaged and marginalised. There are seventeen autonomous local YMCA’s throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Nine YMCA’s and one YWCA are involved in the m-power project, the areas of delivery include Belfast, Carrick, Larne, Lurgan, Portadown, North Down and Ards, Newcastle, Derry- Londonderry, Lisburn and Monaghan. M-power is a project supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
YMCA Ireland as part of the m-power project will deliver youth focused change, based upon a model of youth empowerment.  M- power will support young people to address good relations issues at the grass roots, while furthermore supporting the emotional and social development of young people through qualifications, adventure and outdoor pursuits, sports arts and music.
